I’ll miss the worn carpets and duct taped upholstery and the very essence this old theater exuded of a well-loved venue where families, friends and first dates went to be thrilled, scared, sad or exuberant in a safe place. I’ll miss the soft seats that had springs that were so worn you could lay back and imagine the ceiling would light up with the night sky like Harry and the Hogwarts gang saw in the Hogwarts dining hall. I will miss that friendly old movie house. It seems the cost to convert older theaters to today’s digital standards is prohibitive. ![]() Old theaters are still set up to show 35mm films. It was the last time Paramount released any film in 35mm. In 2013 Paramount pictures filmed “Anchorman 2,” releasing it in 35mm and digitally. It seems the technical switch from filming in 35mm to digital technology has been coming for some time. (Mind you, he verified these facts when he chatted with the staff at the Fond du Lac Theatre).
